Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based maternity care across labor, delivery and postpartum
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal heart monitoring and assessment tools
- Administer medications, IV therapies and assist with labor support and deliveries
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatric teams and support staff to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on birth plans, breastfeeding and postpartum recovery
- Document assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in the electronic chart
- Act quickly and calmly in urgent situations to support the best outcomes for mom and baby
Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in New York (required for practice in Lowville)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and/or ACLS preferred
- Experience in maternity/obstetric nursing or labor & delivery (preferred)
- Comfort working 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — ADN acceptable; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal/fetal assessment
- Labor support techniques and postpartum care best practices
- IV therapy, medication administration and emergency response
- Patient and family education on childbirth and newborn care
- Electronic health record documentation and shift handoff procedures
- Collaborative care with obstetrics, pediatrics and ancillary teams
