Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient evaluation and treatment as the primary clinician (approximately 80% clinical practice)
- Oversee clinical operations and provide leadership for the Occupational Therapy department
- Supervise certified Occupational Therapy assistants and Rehabilitation Technicians to ensure high-quality care
- Lead clinical education and competency processes for OT staff and maintain training programs
- Ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with professional standards and facility policies
- Maintain and update OT policy and procedure manuals covering scope of care, evaluation and treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
- Contribute to program development and support administrative tasks as assigned (approximately 20% administrative responsibilities)
- Function in accordance with the California State Practice Act and relevant therapy board recommendations
Qualifications
- Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association - Required
- Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in California as issued by the Board referenced in the posting - Required
- Ability to supervise COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians and lead clinical education efforts
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, documentation standards, and discharge planning
- Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) - Preferred
- Possess additional qualifications recommended by the California Therapy Board and Rehabilitation Services Department - Required as noted
Education
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association

- Occupational Therapy clinical skills including patient evaluation and treatment
- Clinical supervision and staff development
- Regulatory compliance and professional standards knowledge
- Strong documentation practices and record keeping
- Evaluation and treatment standards and discharge planning
- Clinical education, competency assessment, and program development
- Experience overseeing policy and procedure for OT services
- Administrative capability to balance clinical and leadership responsibilities
