Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the surgical services team to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care
- Oversee circulating RN duties and coordinate workflow in the operating room
- Ensure smooth handoffs and coordinate post-anesthesia care for optimal patient recovery
- Supervise, mentor and delegate to staff while maintaining efficient standards of operation
- Identify operational issues, evaluate options, and implement short-term and long-term solutions
- Maintain composure and lead immediate responses during true emergencies
- Collaborate closely with physicians and ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Monitor compliance with policies, licensing and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- Bachelor degree in Nursing (required)
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
- Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
- One year post-anesthesia care experience (preferred)
- CNOR certification (preferred)
- Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience (preferred)
- Strong written and oral English skills (required)
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor degree in Nursing (BSN preferred/required as stated)
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing and surgical services management
- Circulating RN duties and intraoperative coordination
- Post-anesthesia care principles and recovery processes
- Staff supervision, delegation and leadership skills
- Emergency recognition and effective, calm response
- Problem evaluation and implementation of practical solutions
- Ability to work cooperatively with physicians and ancillary departments
- Physical stamina: ability to sit/stand/walk up to 4+ hours and lift up to 35 pounds as needed
