Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to complex ICU patients, including post-op CABG and transplant patients
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator adjustments under physician and team guidance
• Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and interpret data to support timely clinical decisions
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for high-acuity patients
• Respond to emergencies with effective ACLS/BLS interventions and clear, calm leadership at the bedside
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and contribute to bedside shift report and whiteboard updates
• Participate in unit policies and practice standards that support a respectful, professional patient care environment

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will NOT be accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/critical care experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certification; CPR competence required
• Experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-CABG care
• Preferred: CVICU experience, ECMO familiarity, heart transplant or advanced cardiac experience
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation preferred; strong bedside communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory care for critically ill patients
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Post-operative cardiac care (CABG, cardiac surgery) and familiarity with CVOR/Cath lab procedures
• Experience or comfort with ECMO and advanced cardiac therapies (preferred)
• Proficient bedside assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization in high-acuity settings
• Electronic documentation (Meditech preferred) and clear handoff/shift reporting practices
