Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; includes every third weekend and 12 hours of call per 4-week schedule
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert hands-on labor and delivery nursing care for mothers and newborns
- Monitor fetal status and maternal well-being using fetal monitoring systems and clinical assessment
- Assist with and support vaginal deliveries and C-sections alongside the obstetric team
- Deliver comprehensive newborn and postpartum care, supporting safe transitions and bonding
- Document clinical care accurately in the EMR (Meditech/CPN) and communicate clearly with the care team
- Respond quickly and calmly in emergencies, following ACLS/NRP protocols
- Educate patients and families about labor, delivery and postpartum expectations and care plans
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and supporting unit workflows
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (must be eligible to practice in Virginia)
- Minimum 2 years of labor experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP and AWHONN fetal monitoring certification
- Experience with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, newborn and postpartum care
- Comfortable using Meditech/CPN EMR and GE fetal monitors
- Preferred: experience in an LDRP with high birth volumes
Education
- Active RN license required; ADN or BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal fetal assessment
- Strong clinical judgment in labor management and postpartum care
- Comfortable assisting in OR for C-sections and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Newborn care skills including initial assessments and stabilization
- Familiarity with Meditech and CPN electronic charting
- Ability to work efficiently in a 1:1 labor setting and manage postpartum/nursery ratios
