Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled, compassionate care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients on the progressive care unit
- Perform thorough patient assessments and intervene quickly when conditions change
- Manage advanced medical equipment including multiple IV pumps and ventilatory support
- Care for patients with central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Interpret telemetry and EKGs to guide timely clinical decisions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Lead clinical practice on the unit, assist with precepting and mentor newer staff
- Coordinate discharge planning and ensure safe transitions of care
- Provide clear direction to nursing and support staff to maintain smooth unit operations
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS (required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent progressive care or critical care experience (required)
- EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with high-acuity patients
- Ability to operate advanced medical equipment and manage invasive lines and ventilators
- Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities
Education
- Degree from a Nursing Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Ventilator support and short-term mechanical ventilation care
- Management of arterial lines, central lines and chest tubes
- Use of multiple IV pumps and advanced medical equipment
- Patient assessment, clinical decision making, and rapid response
- Discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Precepting and clinical leadership skills
