Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive post-operative and perioperative nursing care for orthopedic surgery patients
• Independently manage an assigned patient load (expected to independently care for up to 5 patients)
• Perform dressing changes and assist with aspiration and other unit procedures
• Monitor patient status, intervene promptly, and escalate concerns to the care team
• Document patient assessments and treatments accurately in Meditech EMR
• Coordinate pain management strategies and patient education for recovery
• Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (or compact/eligible as required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (per job posting)
• Experience working on a surgical unit is required
• Ability to independently manage up to 5 patients safely and confidently
• Orthopedic nursing experience and pain management experience are preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic surgery patient care and perioperative/post-operative management
• Surgical unit workflows and protocols
• Pain management principles and medication administration
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record system
• Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and time management skills
• Teamwork, clear communication, and a positive attitude in fast-paced environments
