Roles & Responsibilities
- Verify and dispense medications with precision to ensure safe, timely patient care across a 285-bed facility
- Perform clinical dosing and monitoring for vancomycin, aminoglycosides and anticoagulants to optimize therapy
- Conduct medication verification and review first doses and emergency medication boxes to support urgent needs
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians in compounding sterile IVs, Pyxis checks and unit support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on pain consults and medication-related clinical interventions
- Use Dose Edge, Pak Edge and Meditech to document, validate and streamline medication workflows
Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School (as required by the unit)
- Licensed to practice Pharmacy in Missouri (MO) — state licensure required
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience (inpatient experience preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications preferred
- NICU experience a plus for candidates with neonatal care exposure
- Demonstrated ability to supervise technicians and perform sterile compounding workflows
Education
- Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong medication verification skills and clinical dosing knowledge (vancomycin, aminoglycosides, anticoagulants)
- Experience with Dose Edge, Pyxis and Pak Edge systems
- Comfortable using Meditech EMR for orders, documentation and clinical decision support
- Skilled in sterile compounding oversight and pharmacy technician supervision
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across nursing and clinical teams
- Able to manage first-dose verifications and emergency med box processes efficiently
