Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders to improve patient communication and safety
- Create individualized plans of care and update progress reports to guide treatment
- Complete thorough patient documentation including initial evaluations and discharge plans
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, dietitians, and other clinicians to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
- Develop and deliver in-service presentations and staff education to spread best practices
- Contact insurance to verify benefits and assist patients with navigation of coverage
- Prepare treatment sessions, maintain clean treatment spaces, and provide reminder calls to patients
- Support patients and families through education and guidance based on current research
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program required
- Current Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathologist license required (must maintain)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required and must be maintained
- Valid, current driver's license required
- 1+ years of related experience preferred; hospital setting experience is a plus
- Strong documentation, assessment, and care planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders
- Proficient in patient documentation: evaluations, plans of care, progress and discharge reports
- Intermediate computer proficiency for charting and reporting
- Ability to develop and present in-service training for clinical staff
- Attention to detail and strong quantitative/analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team
- Strong organizational skills and a self-starter attitude
