Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders to improve patient communication and safety
• Create individualized plans of care and update progress reports to guide treatment
• Complete thorough patient documentation including initial evaluations and discharge plans
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, dietitians, and other clinicians to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Develop and deliver in-service presentations and staff education to spread best practices
• Contact insurance to verify benefits and assist patients with navigation of coverage
• Prepare treatment sessions, maintain clean treatment spaces, and provide reminder calls to patients
• Support patients and families through education and guidance based on current research

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program required
• Current Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathologist license required (must maintain)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required and must be maintained
• Valid, current driver's license required
• 1+ years of related experience preferred; hospital setting experience is a plus
• Strong documentation, assessment, and care planning skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders
• Proficient in patient documentation: evaluations, plans of care, progress and discharge reports
• Intermediate computer proficiency for charting and reporting
• Ability to develop and present in-service training for clinical staff
• Attention to detail and strong quantitative/analytical skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team
• Strong organizational skills and a self-starter attitude
