Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality orthopedic nursing care to a 32-room unit, treating each patient like family
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and wound vac maintenance with skill and compassion
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and confidently
• Document care and communicate effectively using Cerner EMR
• Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and escalate appropriately
• Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, PCTs and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Support patient mobility using lifts and assistive equipment while promoting independence
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by being a dependable, team-oriented colleague

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Med-Surg or Ortho experience preferred)
• Comfortable and experienced with orthopedic and Med-Surg patient care procedures
• Ability to work nights and every other weekend; strong teamwork and adaptability

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing procedures and best practices
• Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and patient assessment
• Wound care, dressing changes, and wound vac maintenance
• Foley catheter care and NG tube management
• Experience with Cerner EMR for accurate documentation
• Safe patient handling using lifts, Hoyer/Sara devices and mobility aids
• Strong communication, time management and teamwork skills
