Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical support to nursing staff, helping manage complex patient care and treatment plans with confidence
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation, continuing education, and staff updates to keep practice current
- Mentor and precept new and experienced nurses to strengthen clinical skills and boost team competence
- Serve as a clinical practice resource and liaison between bedside staff and leadership, communicating concerns and improvements clearly
- Analyze patient care data to identify gaps and implement targeted interventions that improve outcomes
- Facilitate implementation of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with hands-on staff training
- Promote evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency
- Advocate for patients and families while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure for the state of Alaska
- Nursing degree required (BSN preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
- Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC and High Risk Competency - SEARHC
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and adapt to varying schedules
Education
- Nursing degree required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of clinical practice standards, infection control, and regulatory compliance
- Skilled in acute care nursing, comprehensive patient assessment, and safe medication administration
- Experience with patient education, family advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Proven ability in clinical mentorship, training, and conducting competency assessments
- Familiarity with evidence-based practice and quality improvement methodologies
- Proficient with electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to remain calm under pressure
