Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical support to nursing staff, helping manage complex patient care and treatment plans with confidence
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation, continuing education, and staff updates to keep practice current
• Mentor and precept new and experienced nurses to strengthen clinical skills and boost team competence
• Serve as a clinical practice resource and liaison between bedside staff and leadership, communicating concerns and improvements clearly
• Analyze patient care data to identify gaps and implement targeted interventions that improve outcomes
• Facilitate implementation of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with hands-on staff training
• Promote evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency
• Advocate for patients and families while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure for the state of Alaska
• Nursing degree required (BSN preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC and High Risk Competency - SEARHC
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and adapt to varying schedules

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of clinical practice standards, infection control, and regulatory compliance
• Skilled in acute care nursing, comprehensive patient assessment, and safe medication administration
• Experience with patient education, family advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Proven ability in clinical mentorship, training, and conducting competency assessments
• Familiarity with evidence-based practice and quality improvement methodologies
• Proficient with electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong critical thinking and the ability to remain calm under pressure
