Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients rapidly upon arrival to prioritize care and improve outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document all interventions accurately
- Perform focused, high-acuity nursing interventions in a busy emergency department
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to create streamlined patient plans
- Provide clear patient and family education during high-stress situations
- Maintain accurate, timely charting in the electronic health record to support continuity of care
- Respond to emergencies and assist with resuscitations, critical procedures, and transfers
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — must meet state requirements for practice
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (experience in Emergency Department highly preferred)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- Current clinical skills in triage, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and emergency interventions
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and effective communication skills
- Ability to work nights and handle a fast-paced, unpredictable ED environment
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
- Familiarity with ED workflows, rapid decision-making, and crisis management
- Medication administration and IV/line management
- Experience with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
- Teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to lead in urgent situations
- Patient- and family-centered care with cultural sensitivity
