Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and keep the ED flowing
- Assess, monitor and document patient condition and response to treatment
- Collaborate closely with ED physicians and mid-level providers on care plans
- Provide direct emergency nursing care including IV therapy and advanced life support
- Operate and troubleshoot manual and electronic medical equipment safely
- Supervise and give direction to ED techs, registration staff and allied health team members
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
- Support a culture of compassionate, patient-centered care and strong teamwork
Qualifications
- Current MT State RN license required
- Degree from an accredited nursing program required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or obtainable within 6 months of hire
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
- Basic computer skills and comfort with electronic charting
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing principles and triage practices
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- IV skills, medication administration and monitoring
- Familiarity with manual and electronic medical equipment operation
- Clear communication with interdisciplinary teams and patients' families
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritize effectively
