Roles & Responsibilities

• Partner with the CNA clinical educator to design and deliver high-quality onboarding and preceptorship experiences
• Select and implement curriculum for training programs that meet consortium standards
• Standardize and streamline the clinical competency program to ensure consistency and compliance
• Collaborate with clinical leaders to develop training programs that improve patient care and support staff growth
• Coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA and UAS and support their learning on site
• Use evidence-based research to improve professional development activities and patient outcomes
• Evaluate educational activities comprehensively and refine programs based on outcomes
• Promote organizational standards and ensure educational work aligns with mission and accreditation requirements
• Provide hands-on skills fairs and in-person teaching to reinforce clinical competency
• Support team projects with the clinical education department and serve as a liaison for education initiatives

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hire candidates must have applied for Alaska licensure before start)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred (or must be obtained within 1 year of hire)
• Clinical Competency Assessment completion required within 3 months of hire and maintained thereafter
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• Minimum 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time by jet, small aircraft, and ferry
• Ability to perform physical duties of the role, including occasional lifting up to 50 lbs

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Curriculum development and curriculum selection for adult learners
• Adult learning principles and effective training delivery
• Clinical competency program implementation and evaluation
• Evidence-based practice to inform education and clinical improvements
• Strong oral and written communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with TEAMS, Workday, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, and eLearning tools like Articulate and Canva
• Experience with in-person teaching, skills fairs, preceptorship coordination, and competency compliance
• Policy and accreditation compliance and the ability to align education with organizational standards
• Leadership and mentoring skills to support staff development and retention
