Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care on the Med-Surg/Telemetry unit, keeping patient safety front and center
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms, escalating concerns to the care team quickly
• Administer medications and treatments according to plan of care and scope of practice
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly and professionally
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate timely care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and safety measures in an approachable way
• Support discharge planning and continuity of care through clear communication and documentation

Qualifications

• Active LVN or LPN license in Louisiana, or eligibility to obtain state licensure prior to start
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry experience preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other certifications a plus
• Up-to-date immunizations, ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Strong clinical assessment, telemetry interpretation, and medication administration skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital setting and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing (LVN/LPN) or equivalent vocational nursing education

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and telemetry monitoring
• Proficiency in patient assessment, vital signs, and documentation best practices
• Familiarity with medication administration and basic IV care within LVN/LPN scope
• Good clinical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize competing tasks
• Clear communication skills with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Comfort with electronic health record charting and basic computer skills
