Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations of all body parts using professional judgment and radiation protection principles
- Operate CT and X-ray equipment, set up and run automatic injectors, and adjust contrast protocols by patient age
- Support interventional procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting clinicians
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging files, and participate in the department’s quality assurance program
- Transfer and position patients safely and compassionately across age groups from newborns to geriatric adults
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of imaging equipment and participate in daily/weekly QC
- Assist with tele-radiology transmission and consult with referring physicians as needed
- Participate in supply inventory, ordering, department meetings, in-services, and disaster drills
Qualifications
- Current ARRT (Radiography) required
- Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter
- Able to perform all diagnostic exams related to the assigned modality
- Willingness to learn and be cross-trained in other imaging modalities (XR, MRI, CT, Mammography) as directed
- Ability to work rotating shifts and accept on-call duties with a 20-minute reporting requirement
- Comfort assisting with invasive procedures and supporting interventional imaging
Education
- Current ARRT in Radiography (required)
- Clinical competency validation within 3 months of hire
Knowledge & Skills
- Radiography, CT and X-ray imaging techniques
- Diagnostic medical radiography and patient positioning across the lifespan
- Contrast administration and automatic injector operation
- Sterile technique and interventional procedure support
- Tele-radiology transmission and quality assurance practices
- Venipuncture fundamentals and venous access support
- Radiation protection principles and equipment care
- Cross-modality competency (MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound categories) as a plus
