Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care for patients across a broad mix of surgical specialties
- Scrub, circulate, and assist during procedures in general surgery, GYN, robotics, neuro, ortho, plastics, urology, burn and trauma
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes
- Document patient care and perioperative processes accurately in Cerner
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure surgical instrumentation and supplies are ready and accounted for
- Participate in unit call rotations and support flexible staffing needs, including floating when required
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific or compact where applicable)
- Minimum 2+ years of clinical nursing experience, with perioperative/OR experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience across surgical service lines such as general, GYN, robotics, neuro, orthopedics, plastics, urology, burn and trauma
- Experience using Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
- Comfortable with variable schedules, call responsibilities, and occasional floating to other departments
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong perioperative nursing knowledge and sterile technique
- Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and intraoperative workflows
- Excellent patient assessment and situational awareness in the OR setting
- Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary surgical teams
- Proficiency with Cerner documentation and electronic charting
- Adaptability to changing case schedules and unit needs
