Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; schedule varies and includes weekends (staff required to work 6 weekend days per schedule)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adults on the K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical unit
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy and related therapies safely and accurately
- Assess patients, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Document care and communicate clearly using the Cerner EMR to ensure continuity and safety
- Perform and assist with procedures such as pelvic exams, echoes, and thoracentesis when indicated
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with empathy and clarity
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers, participating in huddles, and supporting unit workflows
Qualifications
- Active RN license (required) — must be eligible to practice in North Carolina
- CNA license (listed as required in hiring profile) where applicable
- Current BLS certification (required)
- Chemo certification preferred (candidates with this will be considered first)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience — oncology experience highly preferred
- Comfortable using Cerner EMR and standard med-surg equipment
- Team player mindset with strong communication and critical thinking skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Oncology nursing principles and chemotherapy administration
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
- Familiarity with procedures: pelvic exams, echocardiogram support, thoracentesis
- Ability to manage patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5 and prioritize workload
- Strong patient education, assessment, and documentation skills
- Collaborative teamwork and adaptability across med-surg areas when needed
