Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality radiographic and CT examinations for patients across the lifespan, using professional judgment to ensure diagnostic image quality
- Operate CT scanners and X-ray equipment safely, following radiation protection principles
- Administer contrast and operate automatic injectors as appropriate, adjusting protocols by patient age and needs
- Assist with interventional procedures and maintain sterile technique when required
- Conduct venipuncture and support invasive procedures as part of the imaging team
- Maintain patient records, image archives and tele-radiology transmissions with attention to accuracy and confidentiality
- Lead and participate in departmental quality assurance, daily/weekly QC and equipment care
- Provide patient transfers, compassionate patient care, and clear communication with patients and referring clinicians
- Support supply inventory, ordering and general department hygiene
- Rotate through modalities and pursue competency in ancillary imaging areas as directed by management
Qualifications
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography (required)
- Clinical competency to be demonstrated within 3 months of hire and maintained every three years
- Ability to perform all diagnostic exams related to assigned modality
- Competence or willingness to become competent in CT operation, contrast administration and tele-radiology transmission
- Comfort assisting with invasive/interventional procedures and using sterile technique
- Willingness to rotate shifts, take call and report promptly when needed
- Team-oriented mindset and strong patient-centered communication skills
Education
- Current ARRT (Radiography) certification required
- Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months of hire and ongoing every three years
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in radiography, CT and X-ray image acquisition and processing
- Strong understanding of radiation protection and quality assurance practices
- Experience with contrast administration and automatic injector operation
- Competent in venipuncture, patient transfer and compassionate patient care
- Familiarity with tele-radiology transmission and digital imaging workflows
- Ability to adapt protocols for pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients
- Willingness to learn and cross-train in MRI, mammography, nuclear medicine and other imaging modalities
