Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a best-in-class Infection Prevention & Control program aligned with CDC, OSHA, CMS, TJC and APIC guidance
- Collect, analyze, trend, and report infection surveillance data and ensure timely NHSN and regulatory submissions
- Write, update, and implement policies and procedures that translate complex regulations into practical clinical guidance
- Design and deliver engaging education and training for staff, patients, families, and communities
- Lead the IPC committee and provide oversight of the Employee Health program
- Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to integrate infection prevention into strategic and operational initiatives
- Travel to regional SEARHC sites (by jet, small plane, or ferry) to assess, coach, and train staff on-site
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S.; direct hires must have applied for an Alaska license before start
- Minimum 3 years of acute care and/or infection control experience (data collection, performance improvement, or risk management experience counts)
- Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) preferred
- BLS current within 3 months of hire (and maintained thereafter)
- Clinical and Manager Competency assessments to be completed within 3 months of hire
- Experience with basic statistics and epidemiologic principles; NHSN reporting experience a plus
- Long-term care experience is a strong plus
Education
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or a related healthcare field (required)
- Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent noted in role requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of epidemiology, infectious disease, and surveillance methods
- Proficiency with data analysis, trending, and database reporting (NHSN experience is a plus)
- Skilled at translating regulatory requirements into clear policy and practical education
- Comfortable with MS Office and database applications for reporting and analysis
- Strong communication skills for multicultural audiences and multidisciplinary teams
- Project management and performance improvement methodology familiarity
