Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and triage to prioritize care
• Administer medications (oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, IV push/infusion) safely and accurately
• Initiate, maintain, and discontinue IV therapy while monitoring patient response
• Document assessments, interventions, and education clearly in the medical record
• Provide telephone triage, clinical advice, and next-day follow-up calls
• Coordinate referrals, track outcomes, and communicate status to providers
• Maintain infection control practices and keep the clinic environment safe and well-stocked
• Participate in team-based improvement efforts and maintain clinical competencies
• Serve as vaccine coordinator or support vaccine operations as needed
• Respond professionally in urgent or emergency situations and perform life-saving procedures when required

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency (SEARHC) required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency (SEARHC) required within 3 months of hire and annually
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move and lift up to 50 lbs as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible to take NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and triage skills to prioritize care quickly
• Medication administration across multiple routes including IV therapy
• Clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) proficiency
• Infection control principles and safe clinical practice
• Care coordination, referral tracking, and follow-up management
• Telephone triage and remote patient communication
• Operation and monitoring of specialized clinic equipment
• Strong multi-tasking, time management, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to remain calm and focused during urgent or emergent situations
• Customer service mindset and professional communication with diverse patients
