Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (overnight); schedule includes every other weekend
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate postoperative nursing care to orthopedic surgery patients, prioritizing safety and recovery
- Perform wound care including dressing changes and suture/staple removal with meticulous attention to infection prevention
- Manage Foley catheters, NG tubes, and wound vac maintenance to support patient comfort and healing
- Use Cerner to accurately document assessments, care plans and handoffs
- Collaborate closely with RNs, LPNs, PCTs and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate high-quality care
- Provide patient and family education on mobility, discharge instructions and home care needs
- Advocate for patients, escalate concerns appropriately, and contribute to a positive unit culture
Qualifications
- Active NC Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience (orthopedic/postoperative or med-surg experience preferred)
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical record preferred
- Demonstrated wound care and postoperative nursing skills (dressing changes, wound vacs)
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and every other weekend rotation
- Team-player attitude, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and strong patient-centered communication
Knowledge & Skills
- Orthopedic nursing principles and postoperative care
- Wound care, dressing changes, and wound vac maintenance
- Foley catheter and NG tube management
- Familiarity with mobility devices (walkers, lifts, CPM) and safe patient handling techniques
- Proficient documentation skills in Cerner EMR
- Ability to manage typical patient ratios and prioritize workload on night shift
- Strong teamwork, clinical judgment, and patient advocacy skills
