Roles & Responsibilities
- Direct pharmacy operations for assigned sites, ensuring smooth day-to-day clinical and operational performance
- Partner with the director to develop and implement policies, procedures, QA processes, and performance standards
- Lead financial, operational, and quality oversight for pharmacy sites, driving outcomes and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with system pharmacy leadership to analyze problems, design solutions, and plan operational activities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with medical staff and cross-functional hospital teams to ensure effective patient care
- Work with information systems to guide pharmacy information management, charge systems, and inventory control enhancements
- Represent pharmacy on multidisciplinary committees such as Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Safety, and Patient Medication Safety
- Manage human resources functions: recruit, onboard, develop staff, conduct evaluations, and address performance concerns
- Monitor productivity, budgetary goals, partner engagement, and patient outcomes and adjust plans to meet targets
- Step in to perform pharmacy manager duties as needed and take on additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- PharmD degree from an accredited college or university
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration or equivalent work experience
- Active Wisconsin pharmacy license (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management experience
- Proven leadership and people-management skills with experience in policy and procedure development
- Experience with pharmacy information systems, inventory control, and quality assurance practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across clinical and administrative teams
Education
- PharmD (required)
- ASHP-accredited PGY2 in health-system pharmacy administration preferred or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Pharmacy operations and medication safety expertise
- Regulatory compliance knowledge relevant to hospital pharmacy
- Budgeting, planning, and financial oversight skills
- Experience with pharmacy information systems and inventory control
- Human resources and staff development capabilities
- Quality assurance and performance improvement mindset
