Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff to ensure timely care
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Support meal service and assist residents with eating as needed, respecting dietary guidelines
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and resident observations
- Help create a welcoming, respectful environment that promotes resident dignity and independence
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans and comfort measures
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — Class: CNA
- Valid state certification or eligibility to be certified in New Mexico
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and supporting residents with varying needs
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
- Proof of required immunizations and successful completion of facility onboarding
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on resident care skills and familiarity with ADLs (activities of daily living)
- Ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in resident status
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic infection control practices and adherence to facility protocols
- Teamwork mindset and the ability to follow direction from licensed nursing staff
- Time management skills to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
