Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions and assist licensed PTs in implementing treatment plans
- Deliver hands-on care and progress patients toward meaningful mobility and functional goals
- Document patient evaluations, treatments, and progress notes clearly and timely
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the rehab team to coordinate safe, patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety techniques, and discharge planning
- Monitor patient responses and report changes in status to the supervising physical therapist
- Maintain equipment and a safe treatment area while adhering to facility policies and infection control
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or license eligible for California
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program or equivalent clinical training
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or must obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a post-acute/rehab setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Reliable, professional, and patient-centered approach to care
Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or completion of an accredited PTA curriculum
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in gait training, therapeutic exercise, transfers, and therapeutic modalities
- Proficient in electronic documentation and charting best practices
- Knowledge of safety precautions, fall prevention, and mobility aids
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively
- Strong patient education and motivational skills to encourage participation
- Familiarity with Medicaid/Medicare basics and rehab documentation expectations
