Shift Type: Day shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, every-other-weekend rotation (35 hours every other weekend)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $39 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to LTAC patients, tailoring therapy to each patient’s needs
- Assess respiratory status, interpret clinical data, and implement appropriate respiratory interventions
- Manage ventilator settings, perform weaning protocols, and monitor patient progress
- Administer therapies such as inhaled medications, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update patient care plans
- Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment use, discharge planning, and disease management
- Document assessments, treatments, and responses accurately and in a timely manner
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety
Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT or CRT preferred)
- Active Virginia respiratory therapy licensure or ability to obtain state licensure
- Minimum clinical experience in respiratory therapy; LTAC experience is a strong plus
- Current BLS certification; ACLS or PALS preferred where applicable
- Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work with complex, long-term care patients
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with nurses, physicians, and therapists
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Care or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in ventilator management and weaning protocols
- Knowledge of LTAC patient population and long-term respiratory care needs
- Skilled in arterial blood gas interpretation and pulmonary function assessment
- Competent with airway management, suctioning, and oxygen delivery systems
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
- Ability to provide patient and caregiver education in a compassionate manner
