Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents and report changes in condition promptly to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
- Support safe transfers and safe use of equipment following facility protocols
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in daily routines
- Follow infection control policies and keep work areas clean and safe
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (New Mexico preferred or eligible)
- Ability to work overnight 12+ hour shifts (5:00 PM - 5:30 AM) on a per diem basis
- Basic competency in patient care, transfers, and infection control
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of resident personal care and hygiene
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic vital signs monitoring and observation skills
- Good documentation and time-management skills
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes effectively
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with elderly residents
