Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care to adult ICU patients during night shifts
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamic status and EKGs, responding promptly to changes
- Administer medications, manage ventilators and advanced therapies per protocol
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and adjust care plans
- Float to Med-Surg as required, bringing ICU expertise to varied patient populations
- Complete accurate, timely documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in unit quality initiatives and support a culture of safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required — Idaho licensure expected for this assignment)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (night shift experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Successful completion of required VHC EKG exam and license/certificate verification
- Ability to meet employer health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Fit Test, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, Tdap, drug screen)
- Comfort and competence floating to Med-Surg units as needed
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — RN required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment skills and familiarity with ICU protocols
- Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Medication administration and titration in critical care settings
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills during high-acuity nights
- Adaptability to float between ICU and Med-Surg while maintaining quality care
