Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care on night shifts in ICU/Med‑Surg settings, supporting safe, high-quality care
- Assist with activities of daily living, basic patient monitoring, and bedside care to keep patients comfortable
- Perform and assist with EKG monitoring and basic cardiac observations as directed
- Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nursing team
- Complete required documentation and participate in handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and all required health screenings and testing
- Collaborate with RNs and interdisciplinary team members to support patient-focused care and efficient unit workflow
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification / state certification (as appropriate for the role)
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- Successful completion of VHC EKG Exam (per checklist)
- License/certification verification required
- Availability for night shifts (per diem) and ability to float to Med‑Surg as needed
- Compliance with required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing/questionnaire, Fit Test, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, Tdap, VHC drug screen)
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with ICU environment and med‑surg patient needs
- Basic cardiac monitoring and EKG knowledge
- Strong observation and patient assessment reporting skills
- Infection control and safe patient handling practices
- Good communication and teamwork on night shift
- Ability to follow clinical checklists and credentialing/testing protocols
