Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering hands-on care and evidence-based interventions
- Implement individualized treatment plans to help patients regain mobility and function
- Perform gait training, balance activities, transfers and therapeutic exercises with patients
- Document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the therapy team
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety strategies
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe, clean treatment area
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support patient-centered care and smooth transitions
Qualifications
- Licensed or certified Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Mexico or eligible for licensure
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Comfortable working day shift hours and able to commit to the 14-week assignment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a care team
- Prior experience in outpatient rehabilitation or similar setting preferred
Education
- Associate degree or diploma in Physical Therapist Assistant or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers and mobility assistance
- Skilled in patient education and developing home exercise programs
- Familiarity with documenting in electronic medical records and charting best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate patients
- Knowledge of safety, infection control and equipment maintenance
