Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful bedside care and assist patients with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Support safe patient transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain clean, comfortable patient environments and follow infection control practices
- Document care, observations, and patient responses clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver coordinated patient care
- Engage patients and families with empathy, clear communication, and dignity-preserving care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (required)
- Active/valid state certification or eligibility to obtain CNA certification in New Mexico
- Basic patient care experience, comfortable with ADLs and vital signs monitoring
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient-centered care skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Competence with vital signs, documenting observations, and reporting concerns
- Knowledge of infection control, safety procedures, and proper use of PPE
- Good communication skills for working with patients, families, and the care team
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks during a busy night shift
- Teamwork mindset and flexibility to support changing patient needs
