Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments across physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive domains
• Implement individualized nursing care plans using sound clinical judgment and the nursing process
• Provide patient and family education to promote recovery and safe transitions of care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record per policy
• Delegate and supervise nursing and non-nursing caregivers to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Serve as charge nurse when required: coordinate assignments, assists with admissions/discharges/transfers, and support staff coverage
• Apply critical thinking and crisis management skills to respond to rapidly changing patient needs
• Maintain adherence to safety procedures including MSDS, infection control, fire/disaster protocols, and safe lifting/body mechanics

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Current Washington State RN licensure
• BLS (Healthcare Provider/AHA) required within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments; acute care experience preferred
• Demonstrated competency with department-specific equipment and patient populations across the age continuum
• Ability to perform essential physical requirements: long periods of standing/walking and safe patient handling

Education

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Strong EMR documentation skills and attention to regulatory requirements
• Proven delegation, supervision, and leadership abilities including charge nurse responsibilities
• Patient education and family-centered communication
• Critical thinking, decision-making, and crisis management under pressure
• Familiarity with MSDS, disaster/fire safety, and safe lifting/body mechanics
• Competency in acute care and specialty department practices
