Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate post-surgical and med/surg patient care on a 17-bed Surgical Care Unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data to detect and respond to changes in patient status
• Perform and manage procedures such as NG-tube care and central line maintenance with confidence
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and quality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PCTs, unit secretaries, techs) to maintain a 1:6 patient ratio and excellent patient experience
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Adhere to unit policies and infection control best practices to keep patients safe

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — title indicates professional nursing scope
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med/Surg/Telemetry strongly preferred)
• Required: BLS certification (stated in hiring profile)
• Hands-on experience with Telemetry monitoring, NG-tube management, and central line care
• Familiarity with Epic electronic documentation system
• Comfort with floating to like med/surg units and working in a team-oriented environment
• Able to work navy-scrub dress code and follow unit scheduling requirements (including weekends)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and post-surgical care skills
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Central line and NG-tube management and troubleshooting
• Proficient Epic documentation and electronic charting
• Good communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced surgical unit
• Adherence to clinical policies, safety standards, and infection control
