Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients on telemetry/stepdown using bedside monitors and clinical judgement
• Provide focused, high-quality nursing care for a stepdown observation unit with a typical 4:1 patient ratio
• Administer medications, treatments and interventions safely and accurately
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — physicians, CNAs and support staff — to coordinate patient care
• Respond to acute events using BLS/ACLS protocols and escalate appropriately
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe discharge planning
• Float to other tele and medical units as needed while maintaining professional standards

Qualifications

• Alaska RN license at time of submission (no temporary licenses accepted)
• Minimum 1 year telemetry experience and 1 year stepdown experience (this is a stepdown observation unit)
• Minimum 2 years total RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Comfortable and experienced with EPIC or similar EMR systems
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic; ability to work collaboratively on a busy unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Stepdown/observation unit workflows and patient management
• Bedside monitor use and troubleshooting
• Proficient documentation in EPIC
• Ability to manage a 4:1 patient ratio effectively
• ACLS/BLS emergency response and rapid assessment skills
• Good interpersonal skills for patient/family education and team collaboration
