Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality primary care to adult patients, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, and management
• Perform comprehensive history and physical exams and develop patient-centered treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage medications safely and effectively within facility protocols
• Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, and facility teams to ensure continuity
• Maintain accurate, timely medical documentation in the electronic health record
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and clinical meetings to improve patient outcomes
• Support patient education and preventive care efforts to promote long-term health

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (required)
• Active or eligible medical license in California (CA) — must be able to obtain prior to start
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Primary Care preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS preferred or as required by facility
• Experience or comfort working in correctional health or high-acuity primary care settings is a plus
• Ability to pass facility-specific credentialing and background checks

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills in adult primary care
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Medication management and safe prescribing practices
• Understanding of preventive care, chronic disease management, and care coordination
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with nursing and ancillary staff
