Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision across the ED as the House Supervisor, ensuring safe, efficient patient care
- Perform and document thorough patient assessments and triage to prioritize care rapidly and accurately
- Serve as charge nurse when needed: coordinate patient flow, assign staff, and manage unit acuity
- Support and mentor nursing staff through hands-on oversight, coaching, and performance feedback
- Collaborate with PAs, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Handle emergent and combative situations calmly and professionally, maintaining safety for patients and staff
- Use Cerner EMR efficiently to document care, communicate handoffs, and track department metrics
- Assist with staffing escalation, call-backs, and operational decisions during high census or critical events
Qualifications
- Active Vermont RN license or Compact license (must be uploaded with profile)
- Minimum 5 years recent inpatient nursing experience
- Current supervisory experience within the past 6 months (required)
- Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital environment (required)
- Cerner EMR experience (required — non-negotiable)
- Active American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
- Active TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification (required)
- Own reliable vehicle (local public transportation is not available)
- Travel experience preferred; BSN preferred but not required
Education
- BSN preferred (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- ADN or equivalent nursing degree considered if other qualification requirements are met
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency nursing and triage skills for all ages
- Excellent critical thinking and rapid decision-making under pressure
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and the care team
- Leadership, delegation, and charge nurse duties including staffing and prioritization
- Teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate with PAs and physicians
- Familiarity with critical access hospital workflows and limited-resource settings
- Proficiency using Cerner EMR for documentation and handoffs
