Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care and assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any concerning changes promptly
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Document resident care, observations and interventions in the medical record in a timely way
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and the care team to deliver person-centered care
• Communicate respectfully with residents and families, offering reassurance and updates
• Participate in care planning, shift handoffs and ongoing training to improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential — current and in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or able to obtain promptly)
• TB screening, required immunizations and ability to pass background checks per facility policy
• Comfortable assisting with transfers and basic patient care; ability to stand/walk for shifts
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehab is a plus but not always required
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on resident care and assistance with ADLs
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, reporting, safe patient handling
• Familiarity with infection prevention and standard precautions
• Effective communication with residents, families and the interdisciplinary team
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Documentation skills and comfort using electronic or paper charting systems
