Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile field and instruments for obstetric surgical cases, ensuring safety for mom and baby
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently during C-sections and other OB procedures
• Verify instrument counts and documentation at the beginning and end of cases to maintain patient safety
• Collaborate with nursing and surgical teams to coordinate case flow and timely turnover
• Perform equipment setup, inspection, and troubleshooting to keep the OR running smoothly
• Participate in unit-specific competency testing and skills checklists to demonstrate OB expertise

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) — certified surg techs only
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• License/Certificate verification required
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Successful completion of pre-employment screening: Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen and Fit Test
• Current immunizations and health requirements: Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, Influenza vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot)
• Willingness to complete facility-specific orientation and skills validation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of obstetric surgical procedures and OR workflows
• Expertise in sterile technique, instrument handling, and surgical counts
• Comfortable working in high-paced operating room environments
• Clear communication and teamwork skills to support surgical staff and patient safety
• Ability to follow facility policies, documentation standards, and competency checklists
