Roles & Responsibilities
- Dispense and verify medications accurately and efficiently to support patient safety
- Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal pharmacy regulations
- Provide clear medication counseling and education to patients and clinical staff
- Maintain accurate medication records, documentation, and controlled substance logbooks
- Manage inventory, restocking, and medication security procedures
- Collaborate with the clinical team to optimize medication therapy and clinical outcomes
- Deliver high-quality pharmacy services in a correctional facility environment with professionalism and discretion
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in California or eligibility to obtain one
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred; Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent considered
- Experience in institutional, correctional, or community pharmacy settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, controlled substance management, and medication safety
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to participate in a structured 4-week training program upon start
Education
- PharmD preferred; BS in Pharmacy or equivalent acceptable
- Active California Pharmacist license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication dispensing accuracy and attention to detail
- Familiarity with pharmacy workflows and inventory control
- Ability to assess drug interactions and counsel on medication use
- Comfort using electronic medical records and pharmacy management systems
- Strong organizational skills and regulatory compliance awareness
- Professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment in a correctional setting
