Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
- Monitor residents’ conditions and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility and transfer assistance using proper techniques
- Document care provided accurately and timely in resident records
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through thoughtful communication
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — current and in good standing
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting daily living needs
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on a care team
- Previous long-term care or assisted living experience preferred but new grads with heart are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and elder needs
- Skill with ADLs (bathing, feeding, toileting, mobility assistance)
- Knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling
- Ability to observe, document, and communicate clinical changes clearly
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience for residents with cognitive changes
