Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting activities of daily living with dignity and respect
• Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility and feeding while promoting independence
• Monitor residents’ condition overnight, promptly reporting changes to nursing staff
• Document care activities and observations accurately and timely in the resident record
• Collaborate with nursing team and interdisciplinary staff to ensure a safe, comfortable environment
• Support residents’ emotional needs and communicate with families and team members with empathy

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent (required)
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Accurate documentation and charting of resident care
• Ability to observe, report, and escalate clinical changes appropriately
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Basic infection control practices and adherence to facility policies
