Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Monitor and record basic vital signs and resident status accurately
- Provide friendly companionship and engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities
- Document care provided and report any changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care that improves quality of life
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience in long-term care or working with older adults is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a resident-first attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- GNA certification
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused support
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic resident mobility
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Clear and timely documentation and reporting
- Infection control, safety practices, and safe patient handling
- Strong teamwork, empathy, and resident-centered communication
