Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
• Provide compassionate support during meals and assist with feeding when needed
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to the nursing team
• Take and record vital signs and assist with basic clinical tasks as directed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support high-quality care
• Promote a safe, clean and respectful environment for seniors and colleagues
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and families to deliver person-centered care
• Support recreational and social activities to enhance residents’ quality of life

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
• State registry or licensure as applicable for Maryland
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Background check and health screening clearance as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first attitude
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role safely (lifting, transfers, standing)

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and senior care basics
• Infection control practices and safe handling procedures
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
• Teamwork and time-management in a fast-paced care setting
• Attention to detail and commitment to resident dignity and safety
