Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing and toileting with dignity and compassion
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Provide respectful companionship and emotional support to promote resident wellbeing
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment and ensure basic safety measures
- Accurately document care provided and follow facility policies and care plans
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Class: GNA) required
- State-required nursing assistant certification or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or available upon hire
- Comfort working with geriatric populations and those with cognitive or mobility impairments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well on a collaborative team
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with residents and families
- Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
