Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation and titrate ventilator settings to meet patient needs
• Assess and perform airway management procedures, including extubation and tracheostomy care
• Interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy based on results
• Deliver inhaled therapies and manage nebulizers, BiPAP and CPAP treatments
• Troubleshoot high pressure alarms and lead weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Provide emergency support in the Emergency Department and pediatric settings as needed
• Administer respiratory-related medications and use a variety of medication delivery systems
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in Epic and communicate changes to the care team

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Valid Washington state respiratory license required
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapist experience
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Comfort working in Emergency Department and pediatric settings preferred
• Teaching hospital or Level I trauma experience is a plus
• COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and settings optimization
• Airway management and suctioning techniques
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Tracheostomy care and humidification/oxygen therapy
• BiPAP, CPAP, extubation and weaning strategies
• Nebulizer therapies and aerosol delivery systems
• Troubleshooting high pressure alarms and ventilator issues
• Familiarity with pediatric and adult critical care populations and emergency response
