Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination following established protocols
- Operate cryostats and microtomes to freeze, section, and mount tissues on glass slides
- Perform histological staining and reagent treatments to reveal structural details for pathologist review
- Prepare and maintain solutions and reagents accurately and safely according to procedures
- Select optimal tissue sections and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure diagnostic-quality slides
- Maintain accurate documentation and handle confidential patient information with discretion
- Collaborate with the Histology Team Lead and laboratory staff to support timely case turnaround
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a science-related field (required)
- Bachelor's degree preferred from a CLSI-accredited Histotechnology program
- Experience with histology techniques including cryostat operation, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation
- Familiarity with reagent and solution preparation and laboratory safety practices
- Ability to recognize and remedy technical difficulties in tissue processing
- Comfort handling confidential patient information and following lab compliance standards
Education
- Associate Degree in a science-related field (required)
- Bachelor's Degree from a CLSI-accredited Histotechnology program (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Histology and tissue processing fundamentals
- Cryostat use and microtomy for high-quality sectioning
- Histological staining techniques and reagent preparation
- Slide mounting and microscopic examination to support diagnostic review
- Troubleshooting histology techniques and maintaining lab protocols
- Working knowledge of CLSI standards and laboratory best practices
