Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert peri-procedural care in the cardiac catheterization lab, ensuring patient safety during invasive procedures
• Start and maintain IV access, assist with central line management, and manage invasive monitoring including Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery lines
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation safely and competently
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, responding promptly to changes in cardiac rhythm
• Circulate and scrub during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, pharmacy, and support services — to optimize patient outcomes
• Document timely and accurately in Meditech and communicate changes in patient status during transfers of care
• Float between like units when needed to meet patient care demands

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensing as required) — pending licenses are NOT accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required (1.5 years is a hard stop for screening; candidates with less should be redirected)
• Travel nursing experience required — no first-time travelers
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar electronic charting systems
• Comfort with on-call responsibilities: 2 nights/week plus 1 weekend every 2 weeks (weekend coverage may exceed every other)
• Willingness and ability to float between like units and adapt to unit staffing needs
• Completion of a 40-hour orientation prior to independent practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization and diagnostic/interventional cath procedures (PCI, left/right heart cath, stent placement)
• Swan-Ganz / pulmonary artery line monitoring and interpretation
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, and assisting with central line insertion/management
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and ACLS interventions
• Experience with electrophysiology procedures (ablation, mapping, device insertion/programming) and Hybrid OR procedures is a plus
• Familiarity with specialized equipment such as Impella and balloon pump
• Strong procedural scrub/circulate skills and sterile technique
