Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: Days: To be confirmed, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (night)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, helping with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Assist residents with mobility and safe transfers using proper technique
- Monitor, record and report changes in condition to the nursing team
- Support mealtime assistance and encourage good nutrition
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Communicate clearly with residents, families and colleagues to ensure coordinated care
- Participate in individualized care plans and resident activities to promote quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility health/immunization requirements
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and a team-player mindset
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of elder care best practices and dignity-centered care
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic vital signs and observation skills
- Infection control and hand hygiene knowledge
- Clear documentation and basic charting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience when working with seniors
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
