Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Document care clearly and promptly in resident charts to keep the care team aligned
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-approved equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain) to ensure resident safety
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of geriatric care and comfort measures
- Basic nursing assistant skills: bathing, feeding, toileting, transfers
- Vital signs measurement and basic clinical observation
- Infection control practices and safe handling of equipment
- Clear documentation and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
