Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day) with required on-call coverage: weekday on-call nights 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (minimum 1x/week, maximum 2x/week) and weekend on-call approximately 1 in 5 weekends (24-hour coverage); day shift with rotating on-call nights/weekends
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the cardiac OR through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure safe, efficient surgical flow
- Perform thorough pre-op and post-op patient assessments and provide clear education and instructions
- Direct and mentor OR technicians and other personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards
- Respond promptly to on-call notifications and report to the facility within the required timeframe when called in
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and in-service education to advance care quality
- Maintain meticulous documentation and adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control practices
Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA) required upon hire and must be maintained
- Current ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
- Current PALS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
- Minimum of one year of perioperative experience or completion of on-the-job perioperative training
- Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) preferred
- Willingness and ability to take call, including overnight call and occasional weekend coverage, and to come onsite within 30 minutes when called
- Up-to-date immunizations and cleared health screenings and drug screen as required by facility
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on perioperative nursing skills, especially in cardiac OR procedures
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making across all ages
- Pre-op and post-op care, sterile technique, and surgical instrumentation awareness
- Clear communication and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to lead and guide OR support staff and prioritize patient safety
- Comfortable with electronic health records and documentation best practices
- Call management skills and rapid response ability when called in
